The Gilders have created a road-racing section on this site. If you can dig the old TransAm, CanAm, F1, endurance, this is the place. What we need now is members. We need more pics and stories. Cmon over and join the fun!

Sunday, as I was watching the Indy 500 and hoping Helio's win would drive an IRS prosecutor to suicide, after victory lane ceremonies came the inevitable Danica Patrick show everyone seems to wait for. The more I watch the more I wonder. One of the great things about racing is it's one of the few sports men and women can compete with each other on an even playing feild. Has a female driver beaten the pants off of me? Yes, more than once. Did it hurt my ego? No. Those ladies had better karts than…

Thats what I tell my neice and nephew...racing builds character and my nephew is finding that out. After two weeks of dnf's he's abit down but he was'nt at fault eithere time. A few weeks ago my nephew started 13 on a very rought track, worked his way to 6th and spun..it's hard to get bite when the back wheels are 10 in off the ground....he then worked back up to 7th were he was spun. bac…

Memorial Day weekend is upon us and for the fenderless crowd. The weekend truly belongs to us. On Friday night in Concord NC the World of Outlaws series will be rolling into the Dirt Tracks @ Lowes Motorspeedway for the Outlaw Shootout. If you live in the Southeast it's open wheel central for the weekend. In the Virgina area, Saturday is your night. For the rest of us it's on to our local tracks. You mid-west guys are my envy. You most likely get USAC non-winged and midgets while the rest of us…

I was watching a TV show called Destroyed in Seconds on the Discovery Channel today and they were showing a flip with a winged Sprint car at Williams Grove Speedway. It knocked a track photographer out but fortunately he was okay. I got to thinkin' with the great group of open wheel fans, flagmen and track photographers we have on this site if you ever had a close call while taking pictures, flagging a race or just being at the wrong place at the wrong time while at a race.

I was letting my mind wander back to my youth. I'm from Nazareth Pa so it's pretty easy to guess my first racing hero. I also remeber laying under a tree in the yard with a am radio in late May listening to the 500. Then in later years getting to see the tape delay on ABC. Then finally my late Uncle Donald and I made out first of many trips to that magical place in Speedway Ind. 1973
seats in turn 1 quite the yr he picked. We camped in the back of his p/u across from the front striaght on Georget…
